Bergamo to host the 2015 World Championships

Gianni Sommariva, the vice president of the Italian cycling federation (FCI) has said that “this course will cover the whole city and offers various points to watch the race numerous times.”
The course uses a part of the nearby communities and goes around the popular upper city. It is a 13 km city course that begins and ends at Vittirio Emanuele II.
Civettini, which is a group that also arrange the Settimana Lombarda, is in hope that the 2015 Worlds Fair, hosted by Milan, will put in further momentum to the Bergamo’s attempt.
Bergamo will challenge the competition from Quebec.
Regis Labeaume, mayor of Quebec, had a discussion about the possible bid in the month of February, with the ex-UCI president Hein Verbruggen. The UCI will come to a decision at the World Championships, next year.
The UCI in the month of September has awarded the Netherlands’ Limburg Region the 2012 Worlds and the current year’s edition is in Geelong, Australia, and the 2011 edition will be in Copenhagen, Denmark.
